# Inspiroy Dial 2 V2 (Q640M) notes

### Overview

* For a non-Wacom pen tablet, this is **an easy recommendation** because the overall tablet works well and it uses the excellent Huion PW600 pen that features excellent pressure handling.
* Key points:
  * The first Huion pen tablet featuring PenTech 4.0 and a PW600 series pen
  * As of September 2026, the Dial 2 V2 the **best non-Wacom pen tablet on the market as of September 2026** and close to what you'd expect from an Intuos Pro. To be clear: **Wacom's tech is still ahead**. But for the vast majority of people the difference would be undetectable, and based on my testing I couldn't tell the difference either.
  * I'm looking forward to Huion releasing additional upgrades to their other tablets that let them use the PW600 pen.

## Device

* Physically identical to the previous Inspiroy Dial 2.
* The ony way you can tell which version is that the V2 is the model name on the back of the tablet.
* Design is very nice - good looking tablet

## Notes on specs

### Digitizer

* Active area is comparable in total size to Wacom Intuos Pro 2025 medium (16x9). The Huion is slightly larger
* ![](https://1457921496-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FNde0PQIvNcFZNVxuTO0G%2Fuploads%2FOVLxiW1vKFbIjnDa7jsq%2Fimage.png?alt=media\&token=9890eb31-9e57-4ac0-87cb-2ffe7a71b7f4)
* Active area size is on the slightly larger end for a medium-sized pen tablet
*

```
<figure><img src="../../../.gitbook/assets/image (8).png" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
```

* Active area little bigger than A5 size paper

<figure><img src="https://1457921496-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FNde0PQIvNcFZNVxuTO0G%2Fuploads%2FqQzajPiScIPzFwT3XhcM%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=66fe61a8-c494-4ef2-a806-459f07a212f8" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Pens

* Included pen: see [PW600 series notes](/drawtab/catalog/pens/huion-pens/huion-pw600-notes.md) for details on the pen

#### Pen cross-compatibility

* Tried the tablet with other PW600 pens that shipped with other tablets — **all worked totally fine**, including "P2" PW600s.
* **PW600S** also tested — works totally fine.
* **Eraser end tried on all the pens** — worked as expected, with pressure sensitivity.

#### Per-pen recognition

* Tried three pens: **PW600, PW600S, PW600L.**
* **The tablet knows the difference between all three.** In the Huion driver, using one of these brings up a **distinct settings entry for that pen**, with its own **pressure curve** and other settings.
* Why it matters: per-pen pressure curves mean you can keep a harder curve on one pen and a softer one on another without reconfiguring.

## Drawing experience

### Pressure scan rate test (many small dots)

* RATING: EXCELLENT
* All dots drawn. No strokes lost.

### Pressure control

* RATING: EXCELLENT
* Testing: Repeatedly ramped pressure across the range — thin to thick and back, light to heavy — many times over. Strokes easy to control.
* The wide *physical* pressure range of the pen helps a lot.

### Surface texture

* RATING: VERY GOOD/EXCELLENT
* Very slightly more textured than the Wacom Intuos Pro 2025 tablets; very close to the Intuos Pro 2017 tablets.
* Pleasant to draw on. Pen does not slip or slide on the surface.

### Pointer lag

* RATING: VERY GOOD
* Pen felt **very responsive**. Subjectively I felt it was very close to the **Wacom Intuos Pro** models.
* **A little less lag than the XPPen Deco Pro** models — consistent with my previous experience of those tablets.
* Overall pointer lag rating: **excellent (very low).**

### Diagonal wobble

* RATING: EXCELLENT (VERY LOW)
* I couldn't really see any diagonal wobble. Any wobuble present is **microscopic, on par with the Wacom Intuos Pro models.**
* Same very low, almost imperceptible wobble at **slow, medium and fast** speeds.

### Tilt compensation

* RATING: VERY GOOD. not quite as good as a Wacom Intuos Pro (Wacom has excellent tilt compensation on every tablet I've tried), but Huion is very close.
* **Method:** hold the pen completely vertical and keep it stable, then tilt to \~50 degrees east, south, west and north.
* **Result:** minor pointer displacement/drift. Totally acceptable for drawing — I don't think anyone would notice it even on a pen display, and certainly not on a pen tablet.

### Other inputs

* Dials spin in both directions and can be pressed.
* Usage notes:
  * I'm right-handed: pen in right hand, left hand on the buttons and dials.
  * I kept **accidentally pressing the lower dial**, so I often **disable the lower dial and use only the upper dial.**

## Ergonomics

* **No replaceable surface**, unlike Intuos Pro 2017 and Intuos Pro 2025.

## Cabling & connectivity

### Bluetooth

* Connected successfully to a **Mac Studio**, drew in **Krita**. Drawing worked totally fine.
* **Slight pointer lag over Bluetooth** — definitely noticeable to me, though not everyone would necessarily detect it.
* **I don't generally recommend Bluetooth**: computers sometimes have flaky connections to Bluetooth devices, and it adds an extra point of lag.
* Possible corroboration: Huion's spec sheet lists the report rate as >300 PPS wired but **>133 PPS over Bluetooth**
