# Lexan sheets

## **Background**

Lexan sheets provide another DIY method for protecting the surface of your pen tablet (screenless tablet). Lexan is a brand name for heavy-duty thermoplastic resin also called polycarbonate.

I found out about Lexan, through tablet expert Kuuube who uses velvet Lexan sheets for his pen tablets.

## **Product**

There may be other sources of Lexan sheets, the one Kuuube uses is: ePlastics 0.010" X 24" X 48" VELVET/MATTE (<https://www.eplastics.com/AF0102448-8B35-VEL-MATTE>)

And I have tried this source out as well.

## **Size and cutting**

These sheets from ePlastics are very large: 24" × 48". When you order them, you can specify cuts to fit your tablet exactly. You will also have to pay for the cuts. You are responsible for providing the correct dimensions. You will receive the exact dimensions you requested, plus any excess sheet material.

## **Texture**

One side has a texture, and the other is smoother but not slippery. Depending on your preference, you can place either side up.

## **Attaching to the tablet**

These sheets do NOT come with an adhesive.

You can secure them to the tablet with:

* Regular tape. I sometimes use gaffer tape on the edges. It is ugly and inelegant, but it works.
* Adhesive transfer tape, such as <https://www.amazon.com/468MP-Adhesive-Transfer-width-length/dp/B007Y7D4A0/>

## **Can these sheets be used for pen displays?**

No. They are not transparent enough.
